Overview: Rick Lemming (Rijk de Gooyer) is the operator and owner of a successful Amsterdam arcade. Along with his tenant Penny (Jennifer Willems), Rick’s life takes a turn when their friend Ed (real-life black-belt Jon Bluming), a karate instructor, is hired to act in an art film with his girlfriend, the glamorous singer Lilly (Sylvia Kristel).

Lilly and Ed find themselves unsuspectingly immersed in the illicit world of pornography - resulting in death threats and murder!

Frans Weisz’s sexy comedy thriller turned cult classic Naked Over the Fence (Naakt over de Schutting) was the first major Dutch starring role of Sylvia Kristel right before she appeared in Emmanuelle.

Cult Epics presents on Blu-ray the newly restored high-definition 4K transfer with a plethora of bonus features and which is a Limited Edition of 1000 copies (and include a bonus CD soundtrack by Ruud Bos, featuring Sylvia Kristelsinging).

Verdict: Based on one of six so-called Srillers (at the time, short for sarcastic thriller!) by Rinus Ferdinandusse (who, for the record, also co-wrote the screenplay and appears uncredited in the film) it stars Rijk de Gooijer (Schoon goed, TV Series) as Rick Lemming, Jennifer Willems (De film van Ome Willem, TV Series) as Penny van der Laan, Jon Bluming (Laat maar zitten, TV Series) as Ed Swaan, Adèle Bloemendaal (In de Vlaamsche pot, TV Series) as Celia Strumpf, and, of course, our beloved Sylvia Kristel (Emmanuelle series) as Lilly Marischka, Naked Over The Fence is as good as it gets for this genre within this era, trust me.

In this thoroughly engaging Dutch feature from director Frans Weisz (Finn, The Burglar), things may start out looking like you the viewer, are simply in for another night of Sylvia Kristel softcore sex, but the brilliantly tongue in cheek comedy, combined with a little bit of drama, sure, makes for what can only be described as an action murder mystery with subtext elements of martial arts thrown in, all coming together to bring forth an erotic softcore (ok, well, you knew it had to be like that at some level!) comedy drama delightful mash up!

The story goes that Lemming randomly finds an array of murder mysteries regularly crossing his path and even though he seems happy enough to be milking pigeons and running a pinball arcade, he still enjoys the odd caper.

But when his loyal, but oh-so gullible friend and former karate champ Ed Swaan finds himself involved with some pornographers, the two of them set about getting their hands on the embarrassing footage; instead of trying to extradite Swaan from the mess, of course!)

Playing against type is Ton Lensink (Ti-ta Tovernaar himself), who plays a nasty TV director who dabbles in dirty pictures and is the complete opposite of the fatherly wizard he was playing on television at the same time!

Future Emmanuelle star Sylvia Kristel appears as the object of Ed’s affections, a posh one hit singer called Lilly and her acting here is as lushly orchestrated, as heartfelt, and as camp as you could ever hope to watch, trust me!

Interestingly enough, she and Ed are the ones who actually jump the fence in their birthday suits, hence where the movie gets it’s title), and not Rick or Penny, as depicted on the original poster.

Anyhoo, moving on and suddenly, and with all hands on deck, we enter upon a world of blackmail, murder and violence, and having dragged her into the mix, luckily Penny has taken a karate class and so can unexpectedly (to the aggressor) fight back!

And sure, the fight and chase scenes are way too silly to be exciting (or funny, for that matter), and yet they still manage to contain some rather suspenseful moments.

The finale is definitely worth waiting for though and as much as I won’t give it away here, I will say that it includes a brilliantly silly karate fight and a more than spectacular tram chase all the way to Artis Zoo!
