DVD Verdict: Having now watched this impressively revealing Diddy: Monster’s Fall documentary, I have to say I am amazed that the man wasn’t arrested a long, long time ago! And although there was a lot of other similar docs covering the same controversy on P. Diddy’s alleged predatorial/abusive behavior around the same time, this was the one that stood out for me.

In truth, haven’t seen too many of the other films, only this one in whole and it was good - if one considers what the makers were really trying to do - and gladly it wasn’t an AI-made kind of doc. It’s obvious that this is one of those cases where the filmmakers didn’t have a full blown view of what really happened behind closed doors - if the rapper acted in a criminal way or not - since the case was in its early stages, but they did great in what thy set out to achieve: make the world aware of what was happening in the world of P. Diddy.

Indeed, the real goal of this doc was to present who Sean Combs/Diddy was way back in his pre-fame days, how he achieved such power in the music/entertainment industry and how such power can transform a man, for better or worse; and it also shows the details of his downfall, from the initial charges, the leaked video of his beating his girlfriend, and all the things that made him a defendant on countless cases of harassment, abuse, etc.

In closing, it gives you plenty of background and maybe you can make your own judgement, sure, but until we see what goes on through a trial, court proceedings, we don’t have much material to comprehend and formulate a definitive verdict within ourselves. Moreover, this piece was all about informing what went on and nothing more; and for that alone it works majestically. [R.A.]
