Title - 'Essentially John Mayall [BOX SET]' (Eagle)
Artist - John Mayall

John Mayall never ceases to amaze me! A purist of the British blues scene, he has presented a whos-who of band members that have gone on to fame in their own right. People such as Clapton, McVie, Taylor ... the list is pretty much endless! Even at Mayall's age he just keeps going and his material is so strong upon each release.

Having spent four decades at the forefront of the blues, Mayall (& The Bluesbreakers) now bring us this comprehensive 5 CD box-set that coincides with the fortieth anniversary of their classic Bluesbreakers album with Eric Clapton (aka "The Beano Album"). The set comprises of his studio albums "Padlock on the Blues", "Along for the Ride" and "Stories" together with a single disc version of his "70th Birthday Concert" and a disc of previously unheard live and session tracks from his personal archive, featuring Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and more.

In truth, this wonderful collection of CDs is bloody excellent with the talent sampled in Mayall's bands keeping the material strong. Buy it, ... ENJOY IT!
