Title - 'Voces8' (Decca Records)
Artist - Lux

The repertoire of the British octet Voces8 ranges from the wide standard a cappella repertoire to pop favorites arranged in the style of the Swingle Singers.

Here on their ninth album, Lux - which is the Latin for 'light" - Voces8 bring their collective radiance, hope and comfort to each and every one of the incredible, truly delightful 15 tracks contained on the new CD.

Formed in 2003 in London, England, it may well have taken them until 2008 to finally release their debut album, Evensong (on VCM), but they haven't stopped to smell the roses from then on in. The multi award-winning ensemble takes us on a music journey from the pale glow of the moon on through to starlight, on to the blaze of a summer sun; effortlessly, beautifully, and without hesitation.

Indeed, Lux is a luminous selection of pieces spanning over 400 years: from Thomas Tallis and Gregorio Allegri to Massive Attack (Teardrop) and Ben Folds Five (The Luckiest - which actually appeared on the soundtrack for Richard Curtis film, 'About Time').

Lux also features works by two of the most talked about composers of our time: Ola Gjeilo (Norway) and Will Todd (UK), along with accomplished musicians such as both Christian Forshaw (saxophone) and Matthew Sharp (cello). In addition to the soothing sound of unaccompanied voices blended in harmony, several tracks feature otherworldly additions of saxophone, cello, harp and water glasses.
