Title - 'Twisted Soul' (Madame Freak Records)
Artist - Jessi Teich
10-time international songwriting award-winner Jessi Teich (pronounced TEACH, if you were wondering; I know I was) will next month release her brand new album, entitled Twisted Soul on Madame Freak Records.
Raised in Clinton, NJ and having been based in Philadelphia since graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music, Teich's Twisted Soul is the latest chapter of a success story based on hard work and a strong connection with a growing army of fans in the U.S. and Europe.
Teich actually recorded the album in Paris, Francem where she initially had landed for writing inspiration. And for us growing legions of fans, it gets better than just a studio album, as Twisted Soul is a live one-take album recorded at Studio de Meudon with renowned engineer Julien Basseres.
Backed by the Thierry Maillard Trio, led by one of France's top pianists, not to forget to mention acclaimed French accordionist Laurent Derache, together with the supreme vocal tones of Teich herself, Twisted Soul's eclectic cultural musical blends are note perfect throughout.
With further help from engineer Ron DiSilvestro, guitarist Dai "Soul Samurai" Myazaki, and drummer John Morgan Kimock, Teich - who is also a big supporter of women who've been affected by emotional abuse through Women Against Abuse ( www.womenagainstabuse.org) - has a big reason to be delighted that Twisted Soul is coming out next month.
For this crossover record is her first full-length album since recovering from surgery to remove a career-threatening cyst surrounding her vocal fold while she was teaching 40 private voice students a week! Her recovery, amazingly chronicled by CNN, included not only regaining the octave-and-a-half she had lost from her upper range, but returning with an altogether stronger, and more supple singing voice than ever before!
Teich herself recently said, "It’s as if I was given a second chance. It’s a scary, career-threatening thing, but it’s made me want to advocate and tell people about it.” So, with that in mind, come and take a listen to Twisted Soul for yourself, and as you do think of how worse off the world of music would be if that surgery had been unsuccessful!
