David Torn is an American composer, guitarist, and music producer. He is known for the organic blending/manipulation of electronic and acoustic instruments and performance techniques that have an atmospheric or textural quality and effect. He is particularly well known for his influence on the development of looping effects.
Torn ever-intrepid guitarist, producer, improviser, film composer and soundscape artist returns with Only Sky, an album that explores the far sonic edges of what one man and a guitar can create, a solo recording of almost orchestral atmosphere.
And it is indeed all that and more, trust me! Clocking in an impressive nearly one hour and twenty minutes, Only Sky uses his trademarking looping and other ambient music; along with "integrated noise" materials (that can be used as samples by other artists, one assumes), to bring forth the closest thing to capturing what he does alone with a guitar at home - trust me!
