Title - 'Not Your Kind Of People [Deluxe]' (Fontana)
Artist - Garbage

Not Your Kind Of People, the highly anticipated new album from Garbage, is finally here ... and, my goodness, it is fantastic!

The alternative rock band were formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1994 and still to this day consist of Scottish singer Shirley Manson (vocals, guitar), and American musicians Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards) and Butch Vig (drums, percussion).

The deluxe album kicks off with the fast-paced guitar work of 'Automatic Systematic Habit,' before the slightly more sedate 'Big Bright World' comes forth. Then comes the lead single from the album, the excellent 'Blood For Poppies.' A track with roaring guitar riffs and such a solid melodic hook, it will have you replaying it in your head long after you've stopped listening to the CD! The quiet start to the heartfelt 'Control' quickly gives way to the distinct Garbage sound, before the Old West twang of the title track 'Not Your Kind Of People' is revealed.

The poppy bounce of the upbeat 'Felt' is next with the electronica of 'I Hate Love' and the truly atmospheric flow of 'Sugar.' The levels rise again with 'Battle In Me,' a song that rocks out with Manson's vocals at their finest. The old school sound of the band comes tumbling forth in 'Man On A Wire,' before the sedate 'Beloved Freak.'

Far from fillers, the four (4) extra tracks on the deluxe edition include the highly frenetic 'The One' (which has Vig doing overtime on the drums), the out-n-out rocker 'What Girls Are Made Of,' the ballad 'Bright Tonight,' with the album being rounded off by the multi-layered 'Show Me.'

Indeed, Not Your Kind Of People sounds like a journey through their career, each track representing everything Garbage stands for. Which isn't a bad thing, trust me, for their ability to keep a 20-year-old sound fresh should definitely be appreciated. For, as the age old saying goes, if it ain't broken don't try and fix it.
