Title - 'It's Getting Better' [7
Artist - Dirty Sidewalks
With an A-side only previously available digitally last year, it is now out - complete with an original B-side - as a 7" vinyl single (an Audiophile's dream) this coming March 11th, 2016. Having just arrived here at our offices for review listening to it today I could have sworn that it had actually been written and recorded back within the 90's alternative rock heyday - it's just that musically inducing.
Dirty Sidewalks - Erik Foster: Lead Vocal, Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Drum Programming; Evan O'Neill: Bass; and Evan Foster: Backing Vocal, Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Percussion - are an indie rock band hailing from Seattle, WA. Their debut single is the brilliant "It's Getting Better" (No-Count Records) and backed by "Hey Girl" (don't you just love spinning the vinyl over to listen to a B-side) is just as good, trust me.
The band formed in February 2010 in Seattle and play anthemic shoegazing tunes seamlessly blending ‘80s college alternative rock, ‘90s Britpop and ‘60s harmonies. "It's Getting Better" is a highly infectious, guitar-driven track, and speaks volumes for their obvious love for such bands as The Jesus and Mary Chain and Echo & The Bunnymen. Borrowing from their bass lines and indulging in a little Mock Turtlesesque light pop vocal bounce, it's more of the same on the flip side and the 60's inspired track "Hey Girl." [A track that I personally actually like better than the A-side!!]
Having previously released a darkly fun digital single "It’s Xmas (And Everyone Is Miserable)" only via a free download at Soundcloud in late 2015, Dirty Sidewalks will release their full-length debut LP (hopefully on vinyl) this year on No-Count Records.
