Title - 'Harp Town'
Artist - Erin Hill
If you have never listened to the rather extraordinary vocal and harp playing talents of Erin Hill, well, you've missed out on something incredible with this business, trust me. Evoking a lyrical tenderness from out within the delicate harp playing, within seconds of the first song you soul will be lifted, your musical tastes expanded.
The LA record label Cleopatra Records has released Hill's first album of harp and voice covers and it is just, well, again, INCREDIBLE! Harp Town is, from start to finish, a whopping 18 tracks that include songs such as Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work,” Smashing Pumpkins’ “Disarm,” Adele’s “Someone Like You,” Radiohead’s “Black Star,” and other songs by Lady Gaga, Tim Buckley, Alicia Keys, Roxy Music, Rihanna, Til Tuesday, Leonard Cohen, U2, as well as classics like “La Vie En Rose,” “Eleanor Rigby,” and “Come Fly With Me.”
My goodness, if all that wasn't enough there's even a couple of arias thrown in there for good measure! “This has been such a big, exciting project for me,” Hill says, “I do a lot of different styles of music, and I write as well, but one of the things I’m most proud of is what I do with my harp and voice covers of pop and rock songs."
You can download a song for 99 cents on iTunes and Amazon, or get all 18 tracks for $9.99. Me personally, I think her stunning renditions of "Disarm," "This Woman's Work" and the towering "Someone Like You" are enough to make this great value for money - let alone the other 15 tracks!
