Title - 'The 9th Life Of Louis Drax' (Motion Picture OST)
Artist - Patrick Watson

'The 9th Life of Louis Drax' is a 2016 Canadian-American supernatural thriller film directed by Alexandre Aja, written by Max Minghella based on Liz Jensen's best-selling novel of the same title, and starring Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon, Aiden Longworth, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker, Julian Wadham, Jane McGregor, Barbara Hershey, and Aaron Paul.

Patrick Watson has flexed his film-scoring prowess once again, this time composing original music for The 9th Life of Louis Drax. The soundtrack officially arrived on September 2nd, 2016 via Varese Sarabande, and boy, is it - for its subject source - an upbeat, and vivid work of composed tracks.

The soundtrack work from Watson follows his previous forays into film music on short, feature and documentary projects like Gravity Boy, Cochemare, The Flood, Les 4 Soldats and A St-Henri, le 26 Aout.

The instrumentation is pretty classic orchestra, for the most part, although there are some exceptions made for rather more, shall we say prepared and muted piano work. For some of the 17 tracks, Watson has done some electronic treatments which greatly add to the depth of each of those recordings chosen to exhibit them.

The melodies and orchestration are as colorful, as creative as you would have imagined, and his orchestrator Jules Buckley is so fantastic at what he does, the lines between each track our seamless. Overall, Watson's work on 'The 9th Life of Louis Drax' is sublime, creative, and something to behold in this era of same-old same-old scores.
