Title - 'Vivaldi's Four Seasons In Rock'
Artist - Darryl Way

If you have never heard the name Darryl Way before, allow me to bring you up to date. Born in Taunton, Somerset (where they make the Cider!), Way is a British rock and classical musician who was a founding member of Curved Air. He actually co-wrote their only hit single, 'Back Street Luv' and is best known as a violinist - although he also plays keyboards.

He began his musical training at Dartington College of Arts, and later studied at the Royal College of Music. When he met Francis Monkman, they formed the band Sisyphus, which evolved into Curved Air.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of his classic rock anthem 'Vivaldi,' Darryl Way has arranged and recorded the whole of Vivaldi's masterpiece, 'The Four Seasons' and given it the same rock treatment.

Ergo, on May 4th, 2018, and released via Right Honourable Records (Cherry Red Records, UK), the quite astoundingly brilliant Vivaldi's Four Seasons In Rock was released to much heralded acclaim.

1. 'Spring Allegro'
2. 'Spring Largo E Pianissimo Sempre'
3. 'Spring Allegro Pastorale'
4. 'Summer Allegro Non Molto'
5. 'Summer Adagio E Piano - Presto E Forte'
6. 'Summer Presto'
7. 'Autumn Allegro'
8. 'Autumn Adagio'
9. 'Autumn Allegro (Last Movement)'
10. 'Winter Allegro Non Molto'
11. 'Winter Largo'
12. 'Winter Allegro'

Simply put, 'Vivaldi' was one of the most famous pieces comprising the Curved Air canon. Appearing on the band’s second album, 1970’s brilliantly entitled Air Conditioning, it had actually been composed by Darryl Way before the ensemble emerged on the scene, in 1968.

And now, as aforementioned, to mark its 50th anniversary, the veteran violinist has decided to expand that classical experience and progress from the Italian maestro’s influence to a full-on interpretation of his most popular opus.

The album’s structure is traditional, as per Vivaldi’s order, thus allowing Darryl's instrumental piece to now flourish, expand upon itself gloriously. Featuring the violin as a solo instrument with a thunderous accompaniment by the entire band, Vivaldi's Four Seasons In Rock is one for the ages, that's for sure.

“If you were a fan of my Curved Air track ‘Vivaldi’," explains Darryl himself, "there’s a good chance you’re going to like this as well." I couldn't agree more, maestro. I couldn't agree more.
