Title - 'Remedium'
Artist - Laura Meade

If you have never heard the name Laura Meade before now, please allow me to bring you up to date on someone you should know all about within the world of music.

The uber talented Laura Meade is a vocalist and songwriter whose background in musical theatre helps define her unique approach as a lyricist and musician.

In addition to being a vocalist for the American progressive rock band IZZ (a New York-based progressive rock band whose music is inspired by such classic progressive groups as Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Renaissance), Laura's career includes performances around the world with many different artists and on a multitude of stages.

Indeed, she has toured with Jason Hart (Renaissance, Camel, I and Thou) and has been a part of the opening band for Rufus Wainwright, Keren Ann and at Marillion weekend (2007 and 2011).

Luckily for us, Laura has now brought out her brand new solo studio album, Remedium, which combines her love of art rock with the emotion of musical theatre.

Releasing May 18th, 2018 via Doone Records, Inc., Remedium (which seems to have several meanings, with the core one being something that "is used to slowly restore stamina, though panic gradually increases") contains 10 tracks that will, simply put, have you hopelessly falling in love with Laura; over and over again.

1. 'Sunflowers at Chernobyl'
2. 'Conquer the World'
3. 'What I See from Here'
4. 'Never Remember'
5. 'The Old Chapel at Dusk'
6. 'Dragons'
7. 'Home Movies'
8. 'Your Way'
9. 'Every Step'
10. 'Irradiation'

Listening to this truly excellent, understated and yet glowing with decadence album, the precise musicianship combined with stellar vocal and lyrical content may well be the first things noted, but like a fine wine, there is so much more to be absorbed within its body.

Each of the ten tracks have a great variety of moods to them, whilst at the same time showcasing exactly what we have already grown to know about Laura: That she is one of the finest voices and musicians of this ilk on the face of the Earth.

I could sit and listen to this album for days, and have actually now just finished my third spin of it. Not featuring anything as intensely, or technical-minded as her work has been with IZZ, the master musician here is able to relax her way into each track.

Embodying them all with a sense of flight, a body of subtle, charmed Celtic suave, her angelic vocals are stunningly suited to her chosen theme here. My personal favorite is the poppy, fun bounce of 'Conquer the World,' but trust me when I say that, and without a shadow of a doubt, Remedium is an album that any self-respecting collector of rare musical gems is going to want to own.
