From the freeflowing, soaringly breezy opening of "Moving to South Africa," to the more stern, wondrously curious "The Legend of the White Lion," to the pensively hopeful "A Miracle for Christmas," to the beautifully sung "Mia’s Song" (by Gunnar Ellwanger), everything about this beautiful, stirring soundtrack makes it my clear favorite released in the past decade.
A lovely inclusion on this album is the work of Insingizi for their music is filled with hope, optimism and faith. Included here are four tracks that all feature such stirring compositions, the stand out for me being "Lion’s Slaughtering" (the longest track at over four minutes).
On "Charlie’s Freedom," the Swedish voice improviser, composer and musician, Isabel Sörling takes the lead and the way she navigates through the track brings forth its emotive weariness just perfectly.
'Mia and the White Lion' is directed by Gilles de Maistre and stars Daniah De Villiers, Mélanie Laurent, Langley Kirkwood and Ryan Mac Lennan.
The movie follows a young girl from London moves to Africa with her parents where she befriends a lion cub.
