Title - 'Hard Luck'
Artist - Royal Teeth

For those not in the know, New Orleans-based indie rock/electronic pop band Royal Teeth (Gary Larsen, singer Nora Patterson, guitarist Thomas Onebane, and drummer Josh Hefner) will be releasing their long-awaited full-length sophomore album Hard Luck on June 28th, 2019 via Round Hill Records.

The new album features their five recently released singles, as well as five other tracks that make this album chock full of delicious new rock/electro-pop/hip-hop hybrid tunes.

1. 'Never Gonna Quit'
2. 'Show You What I Can Do'
3. 'Get A Load Of This One'
4. 'It's Just The Start'
5. 'Time Bomb'
6. 'The Best'
7. 'Rivalry'
8. 'Unbreakable'
9. 'You Make It Better'
10. 'Arrival'

From the jaunty opening track 'Never Gonna Quit,' the aforementioned electro-pop energy is as alive, as designed, as raw and as head swirling as ever!

The fact that it leans seamlessly into the brilliantly frenetic 'Show You What I Can Do' (featuring Tunde Olaniran, a Flint, MI native who's become a staple of Detroit's music scene) and then the hybrid hip-hop of 'Get A Load Of This One' just means your car will never need to have any other CD playing within it!

The (for the most part) softer love song 'It's Just The Start' is a pleasant surprise ("There's a war in me, but I'm bigger than the rivalry") and that's backed by the funky '80s electro-pop of 'Time Bomb.'

A track that showcases the uniqueness of Nora Patterson's vocals, that's followed by the back-to-basics 'The Best' with one of my favorite tracks, the lo-fi emotionally vulnerable ballad 'Rivalry' along next.

The fun and vibrancy of 'Unbreakable' is then backed by more of Patterson coming to the fore (which is never a bad thing), and then the album rounds out with the pop-rock distorted dancefloor funk of 'Arrival.'

Hard Luck marks Royal Teeth’s comeback to indie rock, with a progression in their sound that exudes energy and conviction. No stranger to the ups and downs of the music industry, they have known success and off-sets.

Hard Luck is a chronicle of the rocky road of being in a band, and also of the determination, passion, creativity, and connection that makes it all worthwhile.

As singer and guitarist Gary Larsen puts it, “This line of work can be difficult. It requires you to be vulnerable and put yourself out there to be judged by others."

"It’s hard to get used to. We are using this album as a platform to face our fears, and to focus on the love we find through the music we create and those who connect along the way."

"I hope that this album gives strength to anyone who has a hard time putting themselves out there for the world to see.”
