Title - 'Lucky, Revisited'
Artist - Karen Jonas

For those not in the know, Fredericksburg, VA-based award-winning Americana artist Karen Jonas is set to release her fourth full-length album, Lucky, Revisited, on July 19th, 2019.

Lucky, Revisited (which had 92 backers on Kickstarter who pledged $8,605 to help bring this project to life) is a fresh look at some of Jonas' favorite songs on her previous records; which given that after over five years of touring, means that the songs have grown along with these highly talented musicians too, of course.

And with that in mind, Lucky, Revisited features new, stripped-down, acoustic recordings of nine songs released on her first three albums, as aforementioned, as well as two stellar covers.

“The songs grow, morphing by millimeters at each of hundreds of shows, so they always feel new,” Jonas says. “We decided to make these new recordings of songs you’ve heard on our previous records, as they are today, after so much growing.”

1. 'Ophelia'
2. 'Lovesick Blues'
3. 'Oklahoma Lottery'
4. 'Lucky'
5. 'It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry'
6. 'Butter'
7. 'Country Songs'
8. 'Wasting Time'
9. 'River Song'
10. 'Money'
11. 'Gospel of the Road'

The first single off the album is 'Ophelia,' a "hang on to your hats, boys" frenetic act of musical storytelling if ever there were and that's backed by both the mid-tempo hipsway of 'Lovesick Blues' and the gentle country road, top down, arm leaning blessing of 'Oklahoma lottery.'

The jazz scat bounce of 'Lucky' is as joyous to hear now as it ever was and that's backed by road weary, heart broken yearning of 'It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry.'

The fun, jovial flow of 'Butter' is a stand out highlight here and is followed by the country twang of 'Country Songs.'

The wistful, breathy 'Wasting Time' is yet another golden cut here and showcases Jonas' vocals just perfectly and is backed by gentle Americana of 'River Song.'

This complete in oh-so many ways album then rounds out with the upbeat, barn storming ditty 'Money' with the delicate ballad 'Gospel of the Road' bringing it all to a most beautiful close.
