Title - 'A Different War'
Artist - Danielia Cotton
For those not in the know, multi-racial, gospel-fueled, Jewish blues-rocker Danielia Cotton is an all-American rock singer, songwriter and guitarist who is about to have you fist-pumpin' the skies in tune to her incredible, anthemic new album.
Danielia was raised in the small western New Jersey town of Hopewell, New Jersey, along with three siblings. A jazz singer by avocation, her single mom supported the family doing accounting work.
When Danielia was 12 years old, her mom gave her an acoustic guitar and so she began singing and playing with her mom and her aunts in a gospel group, the Brooks Ensemble Plus.
Throughout her career, Danielia has played in clubs and festivals around the country, and has opened artists including the Allmans, B.B. King, Derek Trucks, Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Robert Cray.
In 2005 Danielia released her debut album Small White Town (title inspired by Hopewell) and not too long thereafter, Danielia's second studio album Rare Child was released May 20th, 2008 (and was subsequently ranked in the top ten albums downloaded on iTunes during its first week of release).
On July 7th, 2009, Danielia released the EP Live Child, a companion piece to her 2008 studio album, Rare Child. This riveting document of her live set won the 9th Annual Independent Music Award for the Best Live Album and Live Performance Album Vox Pop for the following album, Righteous People.
In 2012, Danielia released The Gun in Your Hand followed by The Real Book (2014), and in 2017 she brought out The Mystery of Me.
Now riding a new wave of critical acclaim, she has just released her brand new album, the quite vibrantly sensational A Different War.
1. 'Forgive Me'
2. 'A Different War'
3. 'Cheap High'
4. 'Better Off Without You'
5. 'If You Don't Want Me'
6. 'She Too'
Opening with the AOR rocker 'Forgive Me,' Daniella backs that up seamlessly with the building, soaringly euphoric, rap-infused title track and than comes the scratchy, free flowing, gutsy and countrified vibe of 'Cheap High.'
The beautiful mid-tempo ballad 'Better Off Without You' truly reveals just how good Daniella's reach is, and that's followed by the passionate love song atop a fuzzy guitar bed of 'If You Don't Want Me,' with the 6-track album coming to a close on the throaty rocker 'She Too.'
