Title - 'The Noble Rot'
Artist - Powerman 5000
For those not in the know, Powerman 5000 (also known as PM5K) are an American industrial metal band formed in 1991.
The group has released nine albums, gaining its highest level of commercial success with 1999's Tonight the Stars Revolt!, which reached #29 on the Billboard 200 while spawning the singles 'When Worlds Collide' and 'Nobody's Real'.
Indeed, last year, Powerman 5000 celebrated the 20th anniversary of its most successful album, the aforementioned Tonight The Stars Revolt!, by embarking on a U.S. tour.
Furthermore, front man Spider One is the younger brother of fellow metal musician Rob Zombie and his latest incarnation of the band also features guitarists Ty Oliver and Taylor Haycraft, bassist Murv3, and drummer DJ Rattan.
Well, two months ago, these industrial metal veterans announced they were readying a new album for 2020, The Noble Rot, which will now come out August 28th, 2020, via Cleopatra Records.

Opening with the Industrially-rooted mayhem of 'Cannibal Killers That Kill Everyone,' they back that up seamlessly with the one-two rock-rap punch of 'Brave New World' and then we get one of my own personal favorites here, the sultry gothic vibe of 'Play God Or Play Dead.'
Next up is the lead single, 'Black Lipstick,' that together with its own goth '80s soundscape (think Depeche Mode, Cure and a subdued Sisters of Mercy), and its predominantly Siouxsie Sioux-inspired music video, well, you can most definitely now say that worlds have indeed collided!
This sonically stylistic adventure continues onward with a track berating creations such as Photoshop and IG filters, the revealing 'Special Effects,' the futuristic electronics of 'Let The Insects Rule,' and then more of the same on 'Movie Blood.'
This quite beautifully strange album then rounds out with a twisted blast from the retro past within 'Strange People Doing Strange Things,' a methodically-paced, Halloween-esque, reimagining of The Go-Go's '80s new wave classic, 'We Got The Beat,' with the album closing on the mellow 'VHS' and then a "hidden" cut, a 2020 re-recording of the band's signature hit 'When Worlds Collide.'
Available in digipak CD or on limited edition COKE BOTTLE GREEN vinyl, the CD comes with a special bonus track - a 2020 recording of the band's signature hit 'When Worlds Collide.'
