Title - 'Nature's Light'
Artist - Blackmore's Night
For those not in the know, on March 12th, 2021, internationally renowned Renaissance rock band Blackmore’s Night, featuring Ritchie Blackmore, Candice Night and their band of minstrels, released their brand new album, Nature’s Light.
Having achieved international success, with several gold records and a global track record of sold-out performances, Blackmore’s Night have crafted a 20+ year legacy of merging medieval melodies with rock elements, initially evidenced on Ritchie Blackmore’s groundbreaking work with Deep Purple and Rainbow.
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Candice Night seamlessly blends her ethereal vocals and lyrics, along with a command of numerous classic woodwinds.
With Blackmore traversing all matter of six-string instruments, from acoustic and electric guitar to mandolin, mandolas, hurdy gurdy, and nyckelharpa, the result is a unique listening experience.
Their first new album in six years, and eleventh studio album overall, Nature’s Light - which was released via earMusic (distributed by BFD / The Orchard) - showcases ten brand new songs.
1. 'Once Upon December'
2. 'Four Winds'
3. 'Feather In The Wind'
4. 'Darker Shade of Black' (Instrumental)
5. 'The Twisted Oak'
6. 'Nature's Light'
7. 'Der Letzte Musketier' (Instrumental)
8. 'Wish You Were Here' (2021)
9. 'Going To The Faire'
10. 'Second Element'
Seamlessly mixing their mutual love for the tradition of British Folk music and that age-old Renaissance sound, and with their style inspired by myths and legends of ancient times, this 10-track musical bout of wondrous escapism opens with the bouncy jig that is 'Once Upon December' and backs that up with the pop-imbued 'Four Winds,' the rambunctious 'Feather In The Wind,' and then we get Blackmore's alternate Deep Purple take of his own, the yearning 'Darker Shade of Black' instrumental.
The sprightly 'The Twisted Oak' is yet another joyous trip through their fable land, and that's followed by the free flowing majesty of the euphoric title track 'Nature's Light,' before Blackmore, once again, showcases his unmistakable Fender Stratocaster guitar sound along with some mesmerizing Hammond organ work on the instrumental 'Der Letzte Musketier.'
Their incredibly heartfelt ballad from their stupendous Shadow of the Moon (1997) album 'Wish You Were Here' is now updated and a whole new version and that's followed by the light and breezy jaunt 'Going To The Faire,' with the album coming to a close on the light balladeering fare of 'Second Element.'
Nature’s Light is available on multiple formats (CD, Digital, and 180g 1LP Gatefold on Black Vinyl, as well as a Strictly Limited 2CD Hardcover Mediabook with a bonus CD of selected songs from the band’s extensive back catalogue, and a limited heavyweight 1LP Gatefold Edition on Yellow Vinyl).
