Title - ‘Robinella & The CC String Band’ (Columbia)
Artist - Robinella & The CC String Band
Whatever you want to call Robinella & the CC String Band's kind of music, it don’t matter to me ... ‘cause I totally get it anyway! You can try to label this young family band from Tennessee maybe Bluegrass / Western Swing / Country Rock. Whatever you call it, they certainly play a blend of styles and influences. What we're hearing is original, sweet and sincere singing from Robinella Contreras backed up by her family & friends with a rhythm and sound that make this entire album a comfy fit. Then just when you settle in comes the money song. They take off with ”Honey Honey Bee” as Robinella's clean smooth vocals take you on a ride with an angel's range. Add to that some fiddle fantastique by Billy Contreras. I haven't heard fiddlin' so good since Bob Wills and Johnny Gimble brought the cows home! Then to add dimension with some cool guitar solos, sprinkle in some of Steve Kovalcheck's licks and you get a Blue Ribbon recipe that calls for second helpings!
