Title - The Evergreens [EP]
Artist - Ian Jones

For those unaware, singer, songwriter and performing artist Ian Jones is releasing a new EP on October 22nd, 2021 and being a Pacific Northwest native, Ian has titled his latest work Evergreens.

Indeed, Evergreens is a seamless collection recorded in a good, long session in January before the shutdown, and thus is only a preview of a forthcoming, and as-yet-untitled full-length album.

Evergreens was written in a garage in Southern California after I had moved from Seattle to chase my music dream, Jones says. "It all came to a head one day when I just really missed my friends. I had been messing around with the Open D guitar tuning and this song came out.

Evergreens is for those who have had the guts to leave their hometown and explore the world. We all miss friends and the comfort of our surroundings.

1. Evergreens
2. Born Again Sinner
3. Liars, Criminals, Beggars and Thieves
4. Hallelujah
5. Promised Land
6. Last Call

This pure, unadulterated musical delight opens on the early Fall-imbued lyrical gossamer of the title track Evergreens and backs that up with the troubadour tale found within Born Again Sinner and then comes my own personal favorite from the EP, the upbeat, Petty-esque hipsway of Liars, Criminals, Beggars and Thieves.

Next up is the beautifully layered, mid-tempo melodies and slide guitar work of Hallelujah which is itself followed by the foot-tapping, finger-snapping flashback to youth on Promised Land, this EP closing (all too soon, in my humble opinion) on the gently rambunctious Last Call.

Ian’s last full-length album, Results Not Typical (2019), showcased colorful narratives with crystal clarity and hinted at that vision. With the Evergreens EP, the musician continues his journey and gift for relatable, melodic songcraft.
