Title - Burn [Vinyl LP]
Artist - Hot’n’Nasty
For those unaware, Hot‘n‘Nasty are one of the best German blues and rock bands around and have also been awarded the German Blues Award 2020 for, of course, Best Band.
The new album Burn (released on September 3rd, 2021 via Sonic Revolution) was again recorded, mixed and mastered at the Megaphon Studios by Martin Meinschläfer (producer and recording engineer for Henrik Freischlader, Layla Zoe, Kai Strauss and Tommy Schneller).
As you would fully expect, the almost analogue, warm and powerful sound leaves a lasting impression of this wondrously vibrant, truly heartfelt new album.
Furthermore, original founding member and guitarist Malte Triebsch most certainly stands out here as someone who most definitely succeeded in creating an extraordinary album, allowing vocalist Robert Collins to aid in presenting their self-proclaimed power blues in a fresh and energetic way.

13. The Night Before (5:04)
Complete with powerful grooves and a sure feeling for catchy songs that instantly make the album a must-have for every fan of blues rock music, this excellently crafted album (which also features Dominique Ehlert on drums and Jacob Müller on bass) opens Side A on the melodic AOR of Anyway the Wind Blows and the ZZ-Topesque rocker Like a Hammer and backs those up with the SRV-imbibed blues rock of I Can’t Stand It Anymore, the mid-tempo, euphonious Superstar and then we get the low slung, gritty Dark City and the mid-tempo balladry of It Ain’t Easy.
Next up, as we flip the vinyl LP over to Side B, is one of my own personal favorites, the pulsating, and aptly-named Connected and then comes the foot-tapping rocker Too Good to Be True, the countrified Leavin’, the AOR of Too Much Babble, then we get more SRV-infused guitar work on the brilliant Gonna Do It Better, with the album rounding out on the upbeat and gently frenetic, harmonica-driven Stacy Lee, closing on the gentle blues hipsway of The Night Before.
The quality and power of Hot‘n‘Nasty also ensured that international well-known rock greats such as Wishbone Ash, Dr. Feelgood, Walter Trout, Ana Popovic and Chris Farlowe became aware of them and repeatedly engaged the band as a support act.
Indeed numerous concerts at home and abroad as well as various TV specials brought the band a large fan base and in the Ruhr area, where the musicians come from, the band already enjoys cult status.
