Title - Kasim 2021
Artist - Kasim Sulton

For those not in the know, Kasim Sulton is best known for his work with Utopia, of which he actually sang lead on 1980s Set Me Free, Utopia’s only top 40 hit in the United States.

As a solo artist, Sulton hit the Canadian top 40 in 1982 with Don’t Break My Heart and he has also toured with Blue Öyster Cult, Meat Loaf, Hall & Oates, Cheap Trick, Patty Smyth, Richie Sambora and The New Cars, among many other artists.

Furthermore, Sulton was the bassist and sang background vocals on the breakout Meat Loaf album Bat Out of Hell, and has played and sung on albums that have sold more than 85 million copies worldwide.

His latest album Kasim 2021 has just been released via Deko Entertainment and features stand out tracks like Unsung, Fastcar, and a unique cover of the Nick Lowe penned (What’s So Funny ‘bout) Peace Love And Understanding.

1. More Love
2. Unsung
3. Blame Somebody Else
4. God Kicked the Stone
5. Fastcar
6. What It Means to Be Alone
7. Sweetest Fascination
8. To Her
9. Everything I Shouldn’t Want
10. In the Name of Love
11. Her Love is Sunshine
12. (What’s So Funny ‘bout) Peace Love And Understanding

This vibrantly alive and wholly organic album opens on the rhythmically beautiful More Love and the Beatles-esque Unsung and backs those up with the jaunty pop rock, Weezer-esque Blame Somebody Else, the lushly harmonized balladry of God Kicked the Stone, and then we get both the gently frenetic Fastcar and the magnificently orchestrated, synth-laden, mid-tempo balladry of What It Means to Be Alone.

Up next is the brilliantly free flowing, late ‘70s summers breeze of Sweetest Fascination and then another Beatles-esque reminisce comes forth within the dulcet To Her, and then we get the upbeat hipsway of Everything I Shouldn’t Want, the guitar rocker In the Name of Love, the album rounding out on the earthy, golden tones of Her Love is Sunshine, closing on his version of Nick Lowe’s (What’s So Funny ‘bout) Peace Love And Understanding (here underplayed, raw, and less punchy).

Kasim will be taking his show out on the road starting in September 2021 with dates continuing into 2022. In-between his solo dates he can be seen with recent Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee Todd Rundgren.

Currently, Sulton pours his deep well of firsthand rock knowledge directly into It’s My World & Welcome To It, a weekly national radio program he hosts on WDST 101.1FM in Woodstock, NY.

It’s a song by song musical journey spanning Kasim’s whole career, including the best of yesterday and today. Sharing insightful stories about the music he spins, as he delves into the finer points of how songs are written and recorded.

As things stand, it’s Kasim’s world, and he’d like nothing more than to have everyone join in the show and partake in all its harmonic wonders.
