Title - 'Tear Down These Walls: Expanded Edition'
Artist - Blly Ocean

Billy Ocean was actually born Leslie Sebastian Charles! Did any of you know that? No, nor did I and I grew up listening to his music! He moved to London from Trinidad and Tobago at the age of 8 and he got his stage name from the Ocean Estate in East London!

Anyway, moving on and Ocean is still to this day a British recording artist who had a string of R&B international pop hits in the 1970s and primarily 1980s.

Indeed, he was the most popular British R&B singer-songwriter of the early to mid-1980s. No doubt about it. His voice was well-known, his live stage shows energetic and his songs hit the charts release after release after release.

But all things need a break in life and after scoring his first four UK top 20 successes, seven years passed before he accumulated a series of transatlantic successes, including three US number ones. In 1985, Ocean won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his worldwide hit, 'Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)' and in 1987 was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male.

Tear Down These Walls is the seventh album recorded by Billy Ocean. The album features the hit singles, 'Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car' and 'The Colour of Love.' But it's more about the album as a whole, as a world of musical art that got Cherry Red Records to ensure they were the ones to first reissue this classic album. One that was awarded a gold disc for sales in excess of 100,000 units at the time.

This fabulous, and now expanded reissued album begins with the title track, 'Tear Down These Walls' before heading into the highly-infectious bounce of 'Gun For Hire.' Up next is the equally as fun 'Stand & Deliver' (no, it's got nothing to do with Adam Ant and his band of merry men!), and is backed by the uber romantic, 'The Colour Of Love' ("The colours of the rainbow turn grey whenever you're far away.").

The chanting of 'Calypso Crazy' is up next and is followed by the mega worldwide hit 'Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.’ A smash hit around the world, charting in the top 10 in UK, US and across the planet it is backed by both the free flowing 'Soon As You're Ready' and then the fun trumpet bounce (courtesy of both Mac Gollehon and Ron Tooley) of 'Pleasure.'

Next is 'Because Of You,' which is followed by the romantic wedding toast of 'Here's To You,' and that brings the original album to a close. But here on this expanded version we next get 'Ge Out Of My Dreams, Get Into My Car (Extended Version),' 'Showdown' (a cut from his Love Zone album), 'Calypso Crazy (Extended Version),' and then both 'Let's Get Back Together' (a song recorded specifically for his Let's Get Back Together: The Love Songs of Billy Ocean album), and 'Stand & Deliver (Extended Version).'

The CD booklet also features extensive sleeve notes with co-producer Barry J. Eastmond talking about the making of the album. There is also a full UK discography with many images of the original related sleeves.
