Title - 'Good For Sumthin'
Artist - Eric Gales
Eric Gales (aka Raw Dawg) is an American blues-rock guitarist, originally hailed as a child prodigy. As of this new recording, Gales has recorded fourteen albums on major record labels, and has done session and tribute work. He has also contributed vocals on several records by the Memphis rap groups, Prophet Posse and Three 6 Mafia.
One of the most respected and praised guitarists in modern music, Gales returns with a brand new album featuring 12 powerhouse blues rock masterpieces! Known for his upside-down left-handed playing as well as his deeply expressive, soulful vocals, Gales draws comparisons to both Jimi Hendrix and blues legend Albert King!
For my money, Gales is a very intelligent musician, so rather than elaborate noodling, his playing is lightning-speed intellect. He treats some soloing as if he were examining a diamond of a musical idea from different angles. He'll introduce an element of a musical idea, turn it, look at a different arrangement of the concept, turn it again, invert it, all at sometimes breathtaking speed. In other songs his playing is as sweet and thoughtful as anyone I've heard. Beautifully crafted work, each and every track - as always.
Guest appearances by renegade Zakk Wylde (of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society) and master of the Strat, Eric Johnson, make this album Gales most rock oriented release to date!
