Title - 'Red Velvet Car' (Legacy)
Artist - Heart

This is the long awaited album that the "Heartmongers" have been anticipating since 2004! And, as I'm truly not a fully-fledged "Heartmonger" I can say this with no fear of any backlash (I hope) - it wasn't worth the wait!

Sure, this album has a great mix of rock, folk, and even a little bit country. And, as usual, Ann and Nancy have taken time to partake in some new softer and/or ballad songs here on 'Red Velvet Car.' And yes, most all tracks are strong.

So, just what is so wrong with the CD that it makes me just gently shake my head in such a negative manner? Well, after all this time the album just doesn't seem to go anywhere new for my liking. I think all this is a safe land for them, a territory many times overly explored. I see no real inspiration, no real sweat to have created something to knock their "Heartmongers" socks off, that's all.

But, and being fair to all, "WTF" and "Wheels" are tough rocking songs with great guitar riffs that make you want to break out your air guitar! The title track, "Red Velvet Car" is a sultry rock ballad sung with emotion as only Ann Wilson can pull off, and "Sand" is a wonderful, heartfelt homage to a friend that has passed.

And so, aside from those Heartisms, well, it just sits there for me. But perhaps upon buying it for yourselves, you'll see it all a different way. I hope you do - honestly!
