Title - Eine Quartett des Grauens [EP]
Artist - Dylan Jack Quartet

The Dylan Jack Quartet is back with a brand new EP on Creative Nation Music to be released on October 27th, 2023!

Inspired by the film Nosferatu, “Eine Quartett des Grauens” contains four musical themes based on the film’s main characters Hutter, Ellen, Knock, and Count Orlok.

Furthermore, being released simultaneously is their own improvised version of the classic F.W. Murnau film.

Live music accompaniment for silent films was born out of necessity over 100 years ago, but today it’s a choice, a creative modality of its own. For Boston-based drummer Dylan Jack, this lost art seemed a potential way to reach new audiences and depart from musical routine.

“I’ve always been inspired by the Art Ensemble of Chicago and their performances involving intermedia,” Jack says. “I think that combining art forms like they did is the future of creative and improvised music.”

1. To The Land of Thieves and Phantoms
2. ...Such Beautiful Flowers
3. The Strangler
4. Of Caves, Tombs, and Coffins

The enticingly dark, foreboding EP, a spontaneously composed soundtrack to F.W. Murnau’s 1922 film “Nosferatu,” opens on an initial aching yearn, later an organic jam found within To The Land of Thieves and Phantoms and then brings us the veritably crystalline, noir back streets vibe of ...Such Beautiful Flowers, rounding out all too soon with the drum-led The Strangler, coming to a close on the alluring creepy, sinister yet beckoning layered melodies found within Of Caves, Tombs, and Coffins.

Musicians:
Dylan Jack (drums)
Jerry Sabatini (trumpet)
Anthony Leva (bass)
Eric Hofbauer (guitar)
