Title - Exit To Insight
Artist - DeafCon5

He considers himself to be happy and walks with contentment through a life full of stability and security. It seems as if all of life’s possibilities lie before him, ready to be collected.

But suddenly and without warning, his way of looking at life changes. Did he take a wrong turn somewhere in the labyrinth of life? Or has he set himself goals that are not his own?

The progressive rockers Deafcon5 from Hamburg / Germany provide the answers to these philosophical questions in their fourth long player “Exit To Insight”, the conceptual idea of which was sown by a science fiction novel.

Particularly noteworthy are the intro “Prologue”, which introduces the following story in the nature of a preface, as well as the tenth and final song “Who I (Really) Am”, which summarizes philosophically in the form of a poem.

1. Prologue
2. Caught In
3. As I Am
4. Disaffection
5. Escape Route
6. Self-Delusion
7. Serious Doubts
8. Disequilibrium
9. Trip To Me
10. Who I (Really) Am

This captivating collection of tracks opens on the atmospherically-charged, spoken word storytelling of the Prologue and the propulsive Caught In, and then brings us the soaring As I Am, the veritably shimmering Disaffection and the mid-tempo AOR of Escape Route.

With a unique blend of hard rock and melodic metal, along next is the forthright, anthemic Self-Delusion and the beautiful piano ballad Serious Doubt, and they are in turn backed by the grittier rocker Disequilibrium, the recording rounding out on the atmospheric goth synth Trip To Me, more spoken words closing the album within Who I (Really) Am.
