Title - Love on the Tyrrhenian
Artist - CeCe Gable

For those unaware, way back when, CeCe Gable was walking in sunny San Francisco with a friend and remarked that she would love the opportunity to sing in Italy. This was in the 1990s. And bizarrely enough, 30 years later, a call came that would offer Gable that opportunity.

But the offer’s timing and spontaneous appearance were too much for Gable at the time. “This offer seemed so outlandish to me at that moment that I just could not do it. I was not sure it was the right. I would have to wait thirty years before I received another invitation to sing in Italy,”, Gable explains in the liner notes.

Before that day when she put her dream in motion, and then on hold, Gable was making a name for herself as a jazz singer in Reno, Nevada. More than a decade later, bassist Harvie S and Gable connected because she’d asked him to come to Reno to record.

He, in turn, asked her to come to New York and contracted musicians to back Gable. The pandemic-era work resulted in two albums, “More Than a Song” (2020), and “Next Year’s Song” (2022).

CeCe has released six albums and performed internationally and her new album Love on the Tyrrhenian represents her dream to sing and record in Italy and has a release date of May 24th, 2024.

1 Love on the Tyrrhenian (4:01)
2 The Riviera (3:28)
3 Little Boat (4:25)
4 Say It Isn’t So (4:04)
5 You and the Night and the Music (6:39)
6 Small Day Tomorrow (4:51)
7 Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most (6:39)
8 Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home (3:46)
9 I’ll See You in C-U-B-A (3:10)
10 Once Again It’s Winter (2:31)

A consummate jazz performer of various venues and clubs throughout the United States, Europe and Japan, the album opens on the easy going freedom within Love on the Tyrrhenian and the free flowing The Riviera and they are backed by the harmonious Little Boat, the luscious Say It Isn’t So and then some impeccable Spanish guitar takes the lead on the beautiful You and the Night and the Music.

On an album that contains one beautiful piece after another, each evoking romantic feelings and places throughout their melodies, along next is the low slung, late night ambiance of Small Day Tomorrow and the dutiful piano balladry of Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, and they are in turn backed by the gently rambunctious Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home, rounding out on the strident I’ll See You in C-U-B-A, closing on the playful Once Again It’s Winter.
