Title - Movie Magic: Great Songs From The Movies
Artist - Jack Wood & Nichaud Fitzgibbon

For those not in the know, Jack Wood is a familiar face on the Southern California jazz scene, both as concert producer and singer.

His inimitable style has won over audiences of all ages and sizes, whether in small clubs, college theaters, large amphitheaters or jazz festivals.

He has opened for such artists as Sergio Mendes and Maureen McGovern, and has shared stages with the likes of Nancy Wilson, Jack Jones, Barbara Morrison, and Eddy Daniels.

His Sinatra Centennial Tribute with the Phoenix Jazz and Swing Band headlined the opening night of the 2016 Utah Arts Festival. A reprise performance a week later at Salt Lake City’s Gallivan Center (pictured here) drew a crowd of record-setting size.

He frequently works with musicians who have spent their careers backing such stars as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Jack Jones, Natalie Cole and Diana Krall, and they often comment on Jack’s impeccable intonation and smooth, clean sound.

His brand new album is entitled Movie Magic: Great Songs From The Movies (out October 10th, 2024 via Jazz Hang Records) and is a musical pairing with Nichaud Fitzgibbon, herself recognized as Australia’s premier jazz stylist, her natural charisma and feisty elegance bringing a dutiful sophistication to performances at all times.

This sumptuously delightful new recording opens on the staggered Make Someone Happy, the soulful When I Look in Your Eyes, and the low slung Speaking of Happiness, and they are followed by the emboldened Quando, Quando, Quando, the wistful The Shadow of Your Smile, a perky I’ve Got You Under My Skin, and then we get both the languishing That Old Feeling and a silky smooth I Only Have Eyes for You.

Along next is the effortless beauty of melody brought forth on With a Song in My Heart, the tranquil Moon River and the late night, Parisian-hued How Insensitive, and they are in turn backed seamlessly by the dulcet I Will Wait For You, a sweeping Skylark, the mesmerizing ballad The Shining Sea, the album rounding out on the finger-snapper Close Your Eyes, closing on the opulent It Had to Be You.
