Title - My Life So Far
Artist - Kent Blazy
For those not in the know, hitmaker and Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member, Kent Blazy has just released his brand new album, entitled My Life So Far.
Recorded at the Emporium Recording Studio in Nashville, the eleven-song project honors his remarkable journey. It showcases compositions penned by Kent Blazy, except track eleven, which was co-written with Garth Brooks.
“My new record “My Life So Far” is a celebration of where I am now. This album was inspired by the death of two people who were an important part of my early 20s,” shared Kent Blazy. Writing for this album was an emotional yet fun project. “Still My Only Child” was written about my first love and giving up a normal life to chase my music and I wrote “This Song’s For You” about a friend and band mate in my first band.
A warning from a Kentucky preacher when I started playing guitar inspired the song, “The Devil’s Music,” “Feeling Alive Again” is about recovery from the loss of a loved one, and the song “Empty House” is a nod to the yardbirds,” he reveals.

This dutifully elegant musical celebration of a most glorious career opens on the vibrant finger-snapper One Big Love and the all-embracing Feeling Alive Again and then he brings us the honky tonk guitar vibe of Thank Him Everyday, the delightfully rhythmic Can’t Sleep With You and then one of my own personal favorites, the sweeping Who Really Rescued Who.
Along next is the guitar rocker This Songs For You and the impassioned Still My Only Child and they are in turn backed by the emphatically-imbued The Devil’s Music, the free-wheeling Nature Of The Beast, the album rounding out on the rambunctious Empty House, closing on a full demo version of the Garth Books co-written, mid-tempo country ballad For A Minute There.
With the new album notably honoring his journey and his inspirations - in two cases, inspired by the deaths of two people who were an important part of his early 20s - here he explains which song they were.
“This One’s for You (This Song’s for You)” was written about a long term friendship that evolved into band mates and then the event that led to us going separate ways. “Still My Only Child” is about the woman everybody thought I would marry. She wanted to settle down and have kids and I knew that would drastically change how my life would go, and I chose to follow my path. I did introduce her to a friend, and they got married, had kids and a farm,” he reveals.
