This sumptuously honed, effortlessly effervescent new recording opens on the spirited flare of Rosetta Stone and the drum-led hipsway that abounds within The Dragonfly, before we are brought forth the beautifully luxuriant swirls and twirls of Argentum (For Horace) [itself a tribute to pianist Horace Silver], the ornately sculpted, mid-tempo balladry of The Wine-Dark Sea, with the West Africa-impassioned Diaspora along next.
Following them is one of my own personal favorites here, the resplendent Evening Comes Early and the frenetically-charged, yet always controlled rhythms that propel the aptly-named Particle Accelerator [a tribute to the Large Hadron Collider in Europe], they themselves followed by the beautifully euphonious Phosphenes, the propulsive title track Tomorrowsville [inspired by the energetic Latin music of Chick Corea], the album rounding out on the melodically cultured piano interlude Sonate, closing on the flourishing, veritably cinematic In Bright October.
