Title - You Are
Artist - Olivia Longott

For those unaware, Olivia Longott, mononymously known as Olivia, has returned with her first album in 23 years, You Are.

The seven-song set includes the title track, which is a heartfelt ode to Olivia’s late mother, who passed away in 2018 from Parkinson’s disease.

Randy’s keyboard work can be heard on many records and commercials; his talents have been sought by artists as diverse as guitarists Jimmy Herring, Bill Hart and Shane Theriot (Neville Brothers), drummers Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs), Sonny Emory (Earth, Wind and Fire, Bruce Hornsby) and Jeff Sipe, bassists Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan) and Adam Nitti, saxophonist George Howard, gospel group NewSong, Atlanta Symphony Pops, Georgia Symphony Jazz, and others.

In an unpublished interview from 2022 with Rated R&B, Olivia spoke about what the song meant for her. “One song in particular that I truly love and you guys will feel how vulnerable I was on this track was a track about my mom. It’s called ‘You Are.’ Most of my supporters know I lost my mom in 2018 to Parkinson’s disease. This was the first time I was able to sing my feelings and it took a lot.”

“I want humans of all ages – may they be children, teens, adults, or seniors – to be able to enjoy my music. I just want them to get up and dance, or, feel like wanting to hug each other and get emotional,” Olivia says about the album.

1. You Are
2. Yours
3. No Permission
4. Genuine
5. Dirty Dance
6. Join Me
7. One More Chance
8. Wait For It

This sumptuously honed, effortlessly impassioned new recording opens on the veritably shimmering title track You Are and then brings us the smoothly sultry Yours, the rhythmically embracing balladry of No Permission, and then we get the harmoniously grooved Genuine.

The follow-up to Olivia’s 2001 self-titled debut album, released on Clive Davis’ J Records, along next is the dance floor smash Dirty Dance, which is itself backed by the low slung Join Me, the Latin hipsway flow of One More Chance, the album closing on the soulful R&B-funk of Wait For It.
