Title - Music In Potash Movies
Artist - Electrocult Circus

For those unaware, these songs by ElectroCult Circus first appeared on their first three LPs - Come On/In, Mystery Box and I Wanna Know - and John Potash subsequently chose them for his films and this LP.

Thus, this is a one disc CD featuring a collection of songs from the Columbus, Ohio-based band ElectroCult Circus. As noted, these songs previously appeared on their first three LPs Come On/In (2013), Mystery Box (2019), and I Wanna Know (I Don’t Wanna Know).

This LP was curated by John Potash who used the songs in his films: Drugs as Weapons Against Us (2019), Shots: Eugenics to Pandemics (2022) and CIA Drugs R Us! (2024).

This vibrantly progressive, expertly curated collection of tunes opens on the propulsive wound Whiskey Sage, the atmospherically-charged Melanoma and the roustabout of New Orleans (all featuring Jackie Ward), and then we get given the languishing Saved, the psych-pop of Our Grand Demise, the alt-rock of Electric Eyes, and then come the Reggae-hued rocker Why, the drum-led rock of Disaster Divine and the free flowing psycher Croatoan Tree.

Up next is the low slung rocker Side Effects and the grit rock of Star Slutt and they are in turn backed by the rhythmically explosive Golden Ghost, the hipsway of Uncanny Valley, the alt-twang of Oh No (Keep it Alive), the indie rocker Seethings, the album rounding out on the pure, low key, melodic psych of Heartgarden, the reverberation-hued ebb and flow of Anthills, closing on a host of Parody Song Excerpts: California Dreamin; Manson Family Girls; Julie’s Been Working for the Spook Squad; Johnny B. Bad; Smells Like Teen Spirit (all of which have to be heard to be believed, trust me!) and a couple of Parody Advertisement Tunes: Eugenics Office Song; General Electric Song.
