Title - Wilder All The Time
Artist - Chris Berardo

For those unaware, “It’s been a long time since we put out a record,” Chris Berardo says of Wilder All the Time, his fourth album and his first longplayer in more than a decade. “I didn’t really know if the world needed more records, so I wanted to be sure that I really had something to say.”

He needn’t have worried. The New York native’s new ten-song set is something of a milestone for the artist … Berardo’s new songs once again demonstrate the artist’s uncanny ability to encapsulate universal human experience with self-deprecating humor and hard-won insight. That’s the case with such pointed new originals as The Last Great Chance, Take Me Back, Wanda Leigh, Broken Hearted Man, Try Love and the anthemic King of Fun.

4. Take A Little Love

10. Nothing Greater

A consummate and charismatic performer, Berardo’s smoky voice and lived-in tales begin here on the impassioned Last Great Chance and the rhythmically melodic Take Me Back, and they are backed seamlessly by the foot taping, midtempo AOR of Wanda Leigh, the low sung Take A Little Love, and then we get the all-embracing Americana rocker Broken Hearted Man brought forth.

Along next is the free flowing Somebody Like Me and the feisty guitar rocker Underachiever, and they are in turn followed by the delicate balladry of Try Love, the collection rounding out on the heartfelt at first, latterly free wheelin’ rock that drives The King of Fun, coming to a close on the languishing beauty of Nothing Greater.

“I’m a huge Reckless fan,” he explains, “so when David had the idea of cutting a record in Austin, and then using some of our guys and some RK guys and then maybe pulling in some of my favorite Austin Musicians, of course I was pretty excited to shake things up some and give it a try.”

Returning stronger than ever with successful 2020 single Somewhere Blue and imminent fourth album Wilder All The Time (both produced by David Abeyta of Reckless Kelly), Chris Berardo has finally captured his intoxicating live sound and spirit on record, and is poised to catapult well beyond where he left off.

“In this business, you really need to have this sense of hope and a sense of belief, and a sense of joy in what you’re doing,” he pondered. “There’s a lot of that [on Wilder All The Time]. But sometimes you just wanna dance, and there are songs on the album for that, too!”
