Island/Interscope/UMe announced details of Stories Of Surrender EP, a new Limited Edition 3-track Live EP from Bono, released digitally on May 30th, 2025 to accompany the acclaimed Apple Original Film titled Bono: Stories of Surrender, also available from May 30th on Apple TV+

The Stories Of Surrender EP features live recordings of three U2 tracks – “Desire,” “The Showman,” and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” – taken from Bono’s one-man stage show of the same name, itself inspired by his bestselling memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.

The Stories Of Surrender EP sees Bono joined once again by musicians Gemma Doherty (Harp, Keyboard, Vocals) and Kate Ellis (Cello, Keyboard, Vocals), as well as Musical Director Jacknife Lee.

The film Bono: Stories of Surrender received its worldwide premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. An abridged paperback version of the autobiography, also titled Bono: Stories of Surrender and featuring a new introduction by Bono, has been published by Penguin Random House as a companion to the film and EP.

Stories Of Surrender EP was released digitally on May 30th, 2025 and there is now this quite brilliant new 7” black vinyl that is also available.

One of the greatest experiences of my life was seeing U2 live with my best friend during The Joshua Tree tour in 1987. Their music changed my life and I also got to see them play at the Conspiracy of Hope tour with artists such as both Sting and Peter Gabriel.

That was an amazing time in music and their unique sound with impassioned lyrics are still to this very day woven with my own storyline and have even helped and inspired me through my own difficult times. In short, I am extremely thankful to have had the opportunity to see and feel close to this inspirational man for the past four plus decades.

Which leads me to the songs performed within the original film Bono: Stories of Surrender, and the three chosen to be included on the digital EP, but moreover for us audiophiles, us old school and die hard vinyl collectors still out here, on this beautiful to physically hold new 7” black vinyl.

As you could only ever expect, each and every track is a most beautiful new creation, stripped down, raw, bare at times and yet stunningly affluent within its own core and propulsive nature.

Bono’s story and performance - coupled, in the film, with the incredible cinematography - was quite moving and I found myself connecting back to my own story and family throughout which made it a very emotional. One might even say at times listening to the songs on this small vinyl (let alone the entire film) quickly became a very spiritual experience for me.

Thus, I would highly recommend both buying this digital EP and/or the brilliant new 7” black vinyl and going to Apple TV+ to watch Bono’s most incredible performance before an enthralled audience of devotees.
