Title - Echoes
Artist - Luke Marantz & Simon Jermyn
For those unaware, longtime mutual admirers Luke Marantz (piano) and Simon Jermyn (electric guitar) offer a transformational album of duets.
Musical partnerships often form in fleeting moments—chance encounters, overlapping gigs, a brief overlap in geography before the road bends again. For pianist Luke Marantz and guitarist Simon Jermyn, one such moment in 2015 sparked a creative rapport neither was willing to let time or distance undo.
Echoes is their atmospheric and beautifully textural new duo album, arriving January 9th, 2026 on Chill Tone. Recorded over two and a half years in the home studio shared by the Marantz brothers, the album finds the pair expanding their sonic language while maintaining the intimacy that first drew them together. Drummer Josh Dion adds subtle rhythmic color on two pieces, but the heart of Echoes remains the uncommon synergy between piano and guitar.
Marantz, described by NPR as “among the best young American jazz pianists” and Downbeat Magazine as “a pianist who paints at the keyboard with musicality,” offers his thoughtful creativity in a project that’s stunningly beautiful.

Like echoes, their ideas move independently yet remain deeply connected, each gesture shaping what follows, and thus they open their new recording on the beautifully crafted title track Echoes which then gives way to the Billy Joel-esque Country, the spatially contextualized Hovering and then the emotive Echoes II follows along thereafter.
Up next is the resonating Shori and the elegantly sumptuous Light Scatters Green, and they are then in turn backed seamlessly by the stoically ethereal Echoes III, the set rounding out on a resounding confidence veined throughout Passages, coming to close on the thriving Echoes IV.
