For those unaware, OneRepublic’s debut album Dreaming Out Loud is now available on vinyl for the first time! Featuring the hit singles “Apologize” and “Stop and Stare,” this edition is pressed on limited edition 2LP Blue Galaxy vinyl with an exclusive alternate cover.

Blending alternative rock, contemporary pop, and classic singer/songwriter influences, American band OneRepublic has churned out hit after hit since their 2000’s debut, becoming one of the most commercially successful acts of their generation.

Bolstered by the anthemic songwriting of frontman Ryan Tedder - who has earned Grammys writing for an extensive roster of high-profile talent including Leona Lewis, Beyoncé, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, and Adele - they broke through with the Timbaland remix of “Apologize” from their 2006 debut, Dreaming Out Loud.

From there, OneRepublic continued to rack up radio hits. They reached a peak with 2013’s Native, which was home to the hit singles “Counting Stars” and “Love Runs Out.” While Tedder continued to push the band’s sound, embracing electronic dance and pop flourishes, OneRepublic retained their chart influence.

In 2013, OneRepublic returned with their platinum-certified third studio album, Native, featuring the singles “Feel Again,” “If I Lose Myself,” and their biggest hit to date, “Counting Stars,” a U.S. number two. Arriving in August 2021, Human featured tracks released as early as 2019, including the platinum-certified "Rescue Me" and the Kygo collaboration "Lose Somebody" (found on the album’s deluxe edition).

A concert album, One Night in Malibu, was recorded in late 2021 and released in February 2022. Around the same time, OneRepublic released “West Coast” as the first track off their sixth album Artificial Paradise in July 2024. They signed a record deal with BMG and issued the song “Beautiful Colors,” the first offering from their seventh studio album. Following the group’s departure from Interscope, their former label issued a best-of compilation in 2025, The Collection, which collated most of the band’s biggest hits from their six studio albums for the label.

OneRepublic had just signed to Columbia records, but truly sprang to fame when producer Timbaland – a massive fan of the band’s singer/songwriter, Ryan Tedder – featured a remix of their “Apologize” on his Shock Blue album.

Then after the song’s appearance in a slew of teen-centric American TV dramas, allied with two years of MySpace notoriety, it destroyed all chart competition at the end of 2007. And now - via these brilliant 2LP color vinyl release from UMe of that very same album - we can all get to hear their debut album, once again; one absolutely stuffed to the gills with similar fare as the aforementioned mega hit.

Firstly, while the band, their record company and Timbaland (who twiddles the knobs here) all want you to believe that they’re a rock band of sorts, nothing could be further from the truth. Tedder’s genius (of a sort) is that he’s been able to take the almost perfect demographic of U2’s anthemic choruses and Coldplay’s angst-ridden, chiming melodies and meld them with hardly a seam in sight.

Yet Tedder’s vocals are pure boy band pop. Mated with Timbaland’s bubbly R&B production, and despite the stadium-filling guitars and rattling drums, Dreaming Out Loud remains an album that will appeal to fans of the OC; and those moments when the lovelorn antics of the cast demand some existentialism also.

In the context of chart action this is no bad thing, however. Tedder and company really can deliver hook after hook. And it’s not all flag-waving stuff. “Goodbye Apathy” has a chorus that’s charmingly harmonious, while “Won’t Stop” is a warm shuffle that only the hardest of hearts could resist. A little bit Travis-like, in fact.

And, as mentioned, songs like “Apologize, “Mercy” or “All We Are” are built to raise lighters the world over. But delve a little deeper and the lyrics deliver hardly any grist for the mental mill. I mean sure, it’s a little too cliché-ridden at times, but my goodness it is always singable!

I mean, in my humble opinion, there really isn’t really a disappointing moment on this album, and it still has some of my favorite 1R tracks like “Say (All I Need)”, “Mercy”, “Stop and Stare” and “Goodbye, Apathy”. For as big as a band OneRepublic is with 31,149,508 monthly listeners on Spotify and 9.55M YouTube subscribers I feel like other than “Stop and Stare” and “Apologize” this album isn’t talked about enough; especially since this is the album that made OneRepublic famous.
