Title - Jazz Dreams
Artist - Kathy Ingraham
For those unaware, Kathy Ingraham lives in New York but is originally from a small seacoast town in Maine. She is notably a very private person when sharing her music, but most of her writing inspiration occurs in places other than at the keyboard. Driving, walking, doing the dishes, re-potting a plant, shopping at the supermarket. Living her Ordinary Life….just doing simple everyday things.
But she most assuredly honors the moments when the ether opens up and drops a song in her head. She has admitted that it is such a strange blessing when it happens and when it does, she listens in and goes on the journey.
She has just released her fourth jazz album, Jazz Dreams on March 16th, 2026, and says about it: “I guess everyone says these projects are a labor of love and I mean these words as well. Not just my love but the love of each collaborator on the album. There is some kind of unspoken language of the heart and soul that can only be realized through unrestricted musical expression and supreme sensitivity to each other. Jazz requires this.”
“It is a conversation. It is give and take. It is listening and responding. This is what I love about the people who have worked on this with me and over the years. The other great element is to be with players who have something to “say”. I know I have often likened music to a painting but it truly is how I see music. A beautiful painting that evokes a feeling and of course you want there to be some open sky in a landscape. Space between the notes, yes. There is an understanding.”

On an album chock full of truly unexpected musical delights, Ingraham opens her new recording on the supple, veritable gossamer that ebbs and flows within her rendition of Dream On (featuring Randy Brecker & Elliott Randall) and a laid low, atmospherically-hued House Of The Rising Sun (featuring Evan Christopher), and then we get brought forth a resplendent Little Things Redux (the original of which was featured in the Johnny Depp film The Professor), and soulfully grooved Melusina (featuring Elliott Randall & Matt Wensor), before the set rounds out on a softly-construed version of Ruby Tuesday (featuring Elliott Randall) and a buoyantly-driven Eli’s Comin’, coming to a close on an ornately woven cover of Stairway To Heaven (featuring William Galison & Elliott Randall).
