For those unaware, OSCAR DEL BARBA pianist and composer from Brescia, he is an eclectic artist for expressive need: this need has necessarily led him to compose and play in different musical styles.

Winner of several scholarships and prizes in important national and international execution and composition competitions. For his musical work in 2009 he was awarded the prestigious Gorni Kramer Award.

He boasts collaborations as a pianist with the singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini and with other important musicians of the international music and jazz scene such as Markus Stockhausen, Dave Liebman, Ralph Alessi, and others.

He has given concerts in important festivals all over the world and has recorded several CDs in his own name as well as recordings as sideman. He is currently teaching piano jazz at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan.

This magnificently hued and expertly sculpted new recording opens on the resplendently melodic Coro degli zingari, the more dainty, yet elevated fare of Libiamo ne’ lieti calici and the luxuriant Addio al passato, and they are in turn backed by the quietly impassioned Di provenza il mar, il suol, an affecting Di quella pira and a meaningful yearn that threads throughout Pace mio Dio, the set rounding out on the stoically-hued, yet rhythmically tantalizing Brano tratto da ouverture, coming to a close on the emotively glistening Preludio.
