Title - Sway
Artist - Justin Pierce
For those not in the know, Sway is the debut album from saxophonist Justin Pierce, and features vocalist Ashley Pierce, his wife and musical partner of twenty years.
The repertoire moves from a tender, waltzing “Moon River” to Miles Davis’s “All Blues” recast as a New Orleans second line, with a samba-driven “Meglio Stasera,” sung in Italian, along the way. They made this record to be lived with and danced to, to fill the room while dinner simmers and turn an ordinary evening into an occasion.
Coming complete with songbook classics with warmth, swing, and a New Orleans color, Rich DeRosa has already called it An impressive musical statement..

Recorded on May 5th, 2025 in Dallas, Texas, and produced by Justin Pierce himself, he opens on the aptly-entitled title cut Sway and then brings us the upright bass-fed Honeysuckle Rose, the jazzy finger-snapper The Jody Grind and both the engaging hipsway of Meglio Stasera and the strident fare of All Blues.
Along next is the veritably cinematic Alone Together which is in turn backed seamlessly by a smoothly ambient Moon River, the emotively impassioned In a Sentimental Mood, the debut set rounding out on the resplendent Just the Two of Us, coming to an all-too-soon close with a playfully perky L-O-V-E.
