Title - La Cocina de Tango
Artist - Alex Roitman Tango Ensemble
For those not in the know, La Cocina de Tango brings together newly arranged traditional tango works, music by Astor Piazzolla, a contemporary composition by Finnish composer Sami Pirttilahti, and original pieces by bandoneonist and composer Alex Roitman.
Rooted in the tango tradition while embracing new creative directions, the album reflects the collaborative spirit that continues to shape tango in the twenty-first century.
The album’s title pays tribute to Tango Kitchen, a building specially designed and constructed for the Stowe Tango Music Festival. From 2017 through 2023, it served as a rehearsal, practice, and creative gathering space for many musicians, including Alex Roitman, Mayu Funaba, and Sami Pirttilahti.
The album was recorded on the festival grounds, and the musicians continued to rehearse and refine the music in Tango Kitchen between recording sessions, making the space an active part of the creative process.

Recorded in August 2025 at the Palais de Glace, courtesy of Joe Fish and the Argentine Tango Society, they open this simply spectacular new recording on the studious Aníbal Troilo and the formidable Chau, París and then bring us the sweeping Lágrimas de arrabal, the grandiose El último encuentro and the delicately woven musical majesties of Ruta montañosa.
Along next is the flourishing magnificence of Marrón y azul which is in turn followed supremely by the fun roustabout Panadera, the playfully adorned La cocina de tango, the new set rounding out on the strident fare of Gigoló, concluding with the resoundingly affluent Leyenda.
