Title - 'The Essential Doris Day'
Artist - Doris Day

This first-time Essential collection of popular Doris Day songs is not just for lovers of the great lady herself - but for lovers, in general. I mean, to say the least you are given a real taster for the many Day styles with tracks appearing from some of her most unforgettable albums whilst signed to Columbia (1947-67).

It also features songs from her romantic comedies like 1963's 'Move Over, Darling' where she starred opposite James Garner and 1964's 'Send Me No Flowers' which paired her for the third and final time with pal Rock Hudson.

For those wondering, 'When I Fall In Love' was an American top 20 hit for Day in 1952, but it is Nat King Cole's cover which everybody in Britain regards as the definitive version. His version almost topped the British charts in the late fifties and again in the late eighties. Indeed, Day's versions of all these songs are of the highest quality, but it is the less obvious songs which make this collection essential. My personal favorite is the aforementioned 'Send Me No Flowers, which is usually ignored by compilers of Day CD's, but there are some even rarer tracks here to - which is very thoughtful of Legacy.

And so this career-spanning and comprehensive Essential 2CD includes all her biggest hits and best-loved songs from one of the most famous names in music history! Such as 'Sentimental Journey,' 'Pillow Talk,' 'Love Somebody,' 'Till The End of Time,' and more.

It's truly a must for any fan of Doris Day's music and, as this very same compilation has never been out before, let me make you aware that this splendid 2014 2CD also comes with a set of full liner notes and photos for the complete experience.
