Title - 'Blood' (Saint Marie Records)
Artist - Bloody Knives
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Bloody Knives (Preston Maddox: bass, voice, keyboards, samples, programming), (Jake McCown: drums, noise, programming, art) (Jim Moon: sound manipulator) combine the sounds of heavy punk and industrial with blurry ambient electronics, atmospherics, and 8-bit glitches and melodies.
Their new album Blood kicks off with 'Lesson,' which bleeds (pun intended!) seamlessly into the title track, 'Blood.' The industrial, blurry ambient electronics continue on with 'Not Now,' with the pace of 'Undecided' next, and the best track on the album (for my money), the heavy punk of 'Death Blessing.'
The filler 'Fire' is next, with their melodic bass/drums/synthesizers all working in perfect harmony on 'Problem.' Preston Maddox's tuneful harmonizing over 'Stare Into Your Eyes' makes this another stand out track, for sure. The whole album then comes to a close with the rock/stoner metal/psychedelic vibe of 'Bleed Out'
