On September 8, 2002, Step 13 entertained a small crowd of about 50 people at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. Performing in front of the now infamous white lettering on a black backdrop that read 'The Magic Bag' Step 13 and all its six members came on stage at 8.30pm with their first song, 'Damn You.' Incorporating humor and meaning all at the same time, the song was an instant hit with the small crowd. I think one of the best ideas the guys had was that every time Step 13 was about to play a song they said the name of it for people who aren't to familiar with their work. As we progressed through their short set they also performed 'Ordinary,''Echoes' and 'Lonely.' Step 13 are different from other bands not because they are all from different cities in Michigan, but because their tunes are well written and they perform so well together. You can see the effort and thought put into the songs, especially the humor that goes into their performance. After seeing Step 13 for the first time and listening to there CD more carefully, I can't wait to hear more songs and hopefully a new CD soon.
