Overview: In this irreverent comedy, awkward teenager Tobe (Dustin Ingram) sets off on a road trip to meet Monica Velour (Cattrall), his favorite 80s porn star, at a rare live appearance hundreds of miles away. Instead of the glamorous sexpot portrayed on film, he finds a 49-year-old single mom living in a trailer in rural Indiana, performing at seedy strip clubs to make ends meet.

DVD Verdict: I have to say that 'Meet Monica Velour' was a delightful, quirky at times, and yet very ehartfelt tale. More than I initially was willing to give it credit for out of the box, 'Meet Monica Velour' is engaging (to a point) and as much as it leaves you wanting a little more come the fianl wrap, it is satisfying, nonetheless.

Basically, the it-could-actually-happen-I-Guess story tells the tale of an awkward teenager named Tobe (Dustin Ingram) who undertakes a road trip to meet his favorite '80s porn star, Monica Velour (Cattrall).

Hunting her down to a rare live appearance hundreds of miles away from where he lives, instead of the glamorous sexpot portrayed on film, he finds a 49-year-old single mom living in a trailer in rural Indiana; performing at seedy strip clubs to make ends meet!

In some ways this titilates him, but for the most part he is sad for her; sad for himself too, having driven all that way to find only a shell of a former porn star at the end of his projected horny rainbow!

And so our starry-eyed hero, still totally captivated by Ms. Velour and all she once stood for, befriends her. Thinking he's doing all he can for her and that she must be loving the attention, we (and he) quickly find out that Monica feels that the new attention is simply adding further complications to her already difficult life.

As things progress between them, one adorable scene finds Tobe munching away at Cheetos on Monica’s couch as the duo watch her glory days on VHS tapes! Classic!

A million miles away from anything Sex And The City-related, Cattrall gives a career-defining performance in this offbeat love story. I loved her sarcastic, nay simply dry one-liners, such as, “You’re only as good as what’s in your bra and panties,” and “You screw a few hundred guys and the whole world turns against you!” Frickin' fantastic!

The perfect mix of a nerdy, yet good intentioned kid combined with that of a woman beyond her time within her profession, and yet who hasn't realized that good guys still exist out there, 'Meet Monica Velour' is perfect movie fooder for all the dreamers in us. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
