'Fred: The Movie'
(Lucas Cruikshank, Jennette McCurdy, Pixie Lott, Jake Weary, John Cena, et al / DVD / NR / 2010 / LGF)

Overview: Join Fred in his hilarious journey to find Judy! Hey, it's Fred in his first movie! And he is in love with the girl next door, Judy (Pixie Lott). But his nemesis neighbor, Kevin, thwarts all attempts Fred makes to see her, and when he finally succeeds in making it over to Judy's house she's moved!

DVD Verdict: Indeed, this whole "Fred Phenomenon" is beyond me, to be serious, but a few here at the office are into it ... and so, with help from them watching this film alongside me, we made an afternoon of the venture.

Well, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, so whether that's good or bad I have no idea - honestly! In fact, the first hour came across like an extended home video movie - much like its original YouTube format!

You certainly don't have to be a kid to enjoy 'Fred: The Movie,' wich is good because I'm far from that now, BUT you do see to have to have an affiliation with his character. I mean, let's put it this way: if you have no feelings for what he is cheekily going through and you find his quirkiness annoying, you will be out the door in under 10 minutes, trust me!

I mean, for instance, Fred has a squeaky, high-pitched voice (which you just wanna slap clean out of him!) and is constantly screaming and running around with his arms in the air like an six year-old girl! I kid you not.

Anyway, as I say, the movie is enjoyable, watchable (barely) for all ages, and should help the whole "Fred Phenomenon" spin its way to another straight-to-DVD sequel sometime soon! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

“From Web-Cam to Leading Man” – Follow Fred’s journey to fame in this in-depth documentary…as told by the boy himself along with the executives who gave him his first movie deal “Fred’s First Film: Same Dude, Big Crew” – A behind-the-scenes look at the making of Fred’s first feature film which includes talent and filmmaker interviews
