'A Touch of Frost - Season 2'
(David Jason / 3-Disc DVD / NR / (1994) 2004 / MPI Video)

Overview: 'A Touch of Frost' is one of Britain's most successful detective series and stars award-winning actor David Jason as Detective Inspector Jack Frost, a policeman with a knack for attracting trouble. Set in the dreary town of Denton, Frost approaches each case with his characteristic dry wit and a sense of moral justice.

DVD Verdict: 'A Touch of Frost' is a compelling, and highly-enjoyable British detective series, with Inspector Frost playing the role of an unpolished Inspector Morse! He is smart and streetwise, rather like Morse, he doesn't care for paperwork, like Morse, and he always gets the job done and the crime solved in 90 minutes ... like Morse! In "A Minority of One", Frost and a black detective constable investigate residents at the Eastdean Estates housing project, where young, black men have been accused of a string of commercial burglaries. Frost feels responsible when an informant is murdered. The informant’s child is kidnapped and Frost embarks on a one-man rescue mission. In "Widows and Orphans", Frost is reluctant to investigate a rash of break-ins at the homes of elderly citizens due to lack of evidence until an elderly woman is found badly beaten. A new female partner dispenses free advice on Jack’s love life and he asks Shirley Fisher to dinner. In "Nothing to Hide", Frost gets yet another new partner whose attitude problem stems from a recent demotion. Is a drug addict’s death accidental – or is it murder? Frost deals with personal issues involving an old flame. And, finally, in "Stranger in the House", a serial rapist is on the loose in Denton. A teenaged girl is missing and Frost fears she may be the next victim. The investigation becomes jeopardized when Frost finds a possible connection with the victim’s father. Under pressure to remove himself from the case, he uses WPC Hazel Wallace to bait the rapist, placing her in grave danger. These are all Full Screen Presentations and come with the Special Features of English Subtitles.
