'Planet Earth: Special Edition'
(Narrated by David Attenborough / 6-Disc DVD / NR / 2011 / BBC Home Video)

Overview: The best-selling factual series of all time is now even better! Planet Earth took the world by storm when it originally aired. It garnered uniformly glowing reviews, won four Emmy Awards, including Best Nonfiction Series and Best Cinematography, and its longevity on the best-seller list is legend. Now, with the addition of all new commentary and new bonus programs, you can relive this incredible experience all over again!

DVD Verdict: 'Planet Earth' was filmed on Seven continents. It took five years and included a $25 million budget. Planet Earth is such an epic, that it earns comparisons to some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters. I think High Definition Digest said it best: "It's the Titanic of television nature documentaries - a work of great majesty, high ambition and huge financial risk"

David Attenborough's narrates the series and does a great job at it. Planet Earth first started airing as an eleven episode series on the BBC in England late last year, and more recently on the Discovery Channel and Discovery HD here in the United States.

With Planet Earth you will see beautiful landscapes of our planet, and amazing animal scenes all which will leave you either breathless, or at times put you on the edge of your seat. How some of these things were even able to be photographed by humans often makes you wonder.

This video series is the best. The videographers did such an amazing job filming these different segments. Oh what an adventure they were on while doing this. A lot of the filming angles give you the perspective of being right there. Such an wonderful experience in seeing the animals, the land, and the earth in this upclose and personal way. I have watched some of the segments more than once because they are so informative and beautiful.

If you have a 1080p HD TV I highly encourage you to get the blu-ray (which also is being sold as a 6-disc set contained inside a box "shaped" like the world!) or HD-DVD of Planet Earth. Only then will you will really appreciate the beauty of this amazing series - now complete with all the bonus material included on it! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.77:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
