(Marko Zaror, Alejandro Castillo, et al / DVD / R / 2012 / Magnolia Home Entertainment)
Overview: Antonio is made an orphan when his parents are brutally murdered. As years of vengeance build up, he transforms into a relentless bounty hunter code-named "Mandrill." His sole mark is to find his parents' murderer and avenge their deaths.
DVD Verdict: In what can only be described as a Latino James Bond/70's Kung Fu-type movie, with lines such as "Revenge is a vicious circle, once you start you can't stop", 'Mandrill is actually very entertaining!
After Antonio's (Zaror) parents are killed when he was young he turns into this ruthless bounty hunter named Mandrill. He is obsessed with finding his parent's killer and when he finally does he also meets Dominique, who could be his downfall. Well, OK, is close to becoming his downfall at one stage!
Chock full of James Bond-ish moves, quotes and looks frm Mandrill to the baddies, not to mention en mass of 70's Kung-Fu type moves, sure the fighting is overly cheesy, the music and editing much like you would expect from, say, a 70's TV show. But, and with all that said, I was very entertained throughout the entire movie. And I think, nay I know you will be too if you give it half a chance.
