'The Nanny - The Complete Second Season'
(Fran Drescher, Charles Shaughnessy, et al / 3-Disc DVD / NR / (1993) 2006 / Sony Pictures)

Overview: Fran Drescher returns to clean house in this hilarious second season of 'The Nanny', available for the first time on DVD. One of television's most popular sitcoms, 'The Nanny' took home an Emmy-Award in its second season for Best Costuming, making it the most fashionable show on television. In season two, Fran Drescher , Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury Madeline Zima, and Renee Taylor are up to their same old tricks. Fran dresses like a man to infiltrate an exclusive all-male club; Mr. Sheffield dates a dead-ringer for Fran; Niles auditions for Maxwell's latest play; and Brighton's knack for cards lands him on Sylvia's canasta team. And that's only the beginning.

DVD Verdict: The second season of Fran Drescher's career-making sitcom 'The Nanny' finally comes to DVD with this well-produced box set. As we know from the first season Fran Fine (Fran Drescher) is a door-to-door cosmetics salesgirl from Queens who unwittingly becomes nanny to the children of rich Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy). As confidante to shy Maggie (Nicolle Tom), mischevious Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury) and junior couch-case Gracie (Madeline Zima), Fran discovers a whole new way of life, living in ritzy Manhattan and meeting the famous celebrities Max hires to star in his various shows. Bringing Fran back to real life - and always there for a helping hand - is Max's deadpan butler Niles (Daniel Davis), along with her mother Sylvia (Renee Taylor), Grandma Yetta (Ann Guilbert) and best friend Val (Rachel Chagall). And there's also Max's frosty business associate CC Babcock (Lauren Lane) who is noticing the growing attraction between Max and Fran ... and is as jealous as hell! The first season perfectly set up the premise and the main characters. This second season keeps the bumpy ride bouncing along with some classic episodes such as when Fran dresses like a man to infiltrate an exclusive all-male club; when Mr. Sheffield dates a woman who is a dead-ringer for Fran; when Niles auditions for Maxwell's latest play, and more. This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) and comes with the Special Features of Subtitles in French, Portugues and Spanish.
